Below is your tentative program itinerary. Please note that dates, times, and events are subject to change.
Day 1: Tuesday – May 10, 2016
Morning: Arrive in Rome, then transfer to accommodations
Noon: Group transfer from Fiumicino Airport to apartments
Note: all students arriving earlier who wish to take advantage of the group transfer should meet at the airport arrivals gate by 11:45am at the latest! Look for Linda and Alessandro with a “CISabroad UConn” sign.
1pm: Entire group to meet at Terre d’Acqua Restaurant, 42A Piazza San Cosimato to meet apartment provider for check-in and brief health & safety orientation
3pm: Visit the Roman Forum
Meals: None
Transportation: Airport to accommodations (one group transfer via private coach); accommodations to visits (public transportation and walking)
Day 2: Wednesday – May 11, 2016
Day: Take a geographical field trip around the city of Rome with faculty from Roma Tre University, including visits to the Tiber River, Cloaca Maxima, and Circus Maximus (travel logistics provided by CISabroad, Geographical field trip and Roma Tre University involvement organized by University of Connecticut faculty)
7pm: Group welcome dinner at Ai Spagghetari

Day 3: Thursday – May 12, 2016
Day: Take a hydrogeological field trip around Rome led by faculty from Roma Tre University (travel logistics provided by CISabroad, Hydrogeological field trip and Roma Tre University involvement organized by University of Connecticut faculty)

Day 4: Friday – May 13, 2016
Day: Enjoy an excursion to Aqueduct Park, a public garden along the Appian Way crossed by the remains of Roman aqueducts

Day 5: Saturday – May 14, 2016
Day: Explore the ancient tunnels of the Claudia and Marcia aqueducts with Roma Sotterranea

Day 6: Sunday – May 15, 2016
Day: Take a trip to Porta Maggiore to see the aqueducts entering Rome and conduct a GIS mapping exercise (GIS mapping exercise organized by University of Connecticut faculty)

Day 7: Monday – May 16, 2016
Day: Free day to explore the city! La Vida Local cultural activity suggestions available from CISabroad Onsite Program Coordinator (OPC)

Day: Visit the Baths of Caracalla and the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and the Martyrs

Day: Field trips to the Piazza Navona and Largo di Torre Argentina

Day: Depart early this morning for a full day excursion to Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius with faculty from Roma Tre University (travel logistics provided by CISabroad, Roma Tre University faculty involvement coordinated by University of Connecticut faculty)

Day 12: Saturday – May 21, 2016
Day: Excursion to Hadrian’s Villa in nearby Tivoli to conduct a water balance exercise (water balance exercise organized by University of Connecticut faculty)

Day 13: Sunday – May 22, 2016

Day: A boat trip down the Tiber River, ending in Ostia Antica and followed by a guided visit of the Ostia Antica archeological site with Roma Tre faculty

Transportation: Accommodations to Ostia Antica (boat), return to Rome city-center (public transportation and walking)
Day 16: Wednesday – May 25, 2016
Day: Check out of accommodations and transfer to airport for return flight home
