Day 1: Saturday – June 18, 2016
Day: Arrive in Naples, meet CISabroad On-Site Program Coordinator, then transfer to accommodations in Pozzuoli*
Evening: Group Welcome Dinner

Meals: Dinner
Transportation: Airport to accommodations (transfer by minivan); accommodations to dinner (walking)
*Specific transfer instruction will be available closer to arrival. Any students arriving by train should make their way to the hotel independently to arrive by 3:00pm.

Day 2: Sunday – June 19, 2016
9-11am: Orientation, followed by faculty-led walking tour of Pozzuoli
Noon: Group lunch at hotel (Avellino)
2-4pm: Continue orientation

Transportation: Accommodations to visits (walking)

Day 3: Monday – June 20, 2016
Morning: Professionally guided visit to the Old Citadel, the cathedral (pending permission), Augustus Temple, and the subterranean area
Noon: Group lunch at Avellino
3-5pm: Designated classroom time for faculty lecture

Transportation: Accommodations to visits (walking)

Day 4: Tuesday – June 21, 2016
10am-noon: Visit the Solfatara Volcano
3-5pm: Designated classroom time for faculty lecture

Meals: Breakfast
Transportation: Accommodations to visits (public transportation and walking)

Day 5: Wednesday – June 22, 2016
Morning: Professionally guided visit to the Archaeological Park of Cuma and Piscina Mirabilis, including bagged lunch
3-5pm: Designated classroom time for faculty lecture
Evening: Jazz festival night in the crater (to be arranged by Stanford University faculty)

Meals: Breakfast, lunch (to go)
Transportation: Accommodations to and from the Archaeological Park of Cuma and Piscina Mirabilis (coach bus); to all other visits (walking)

Day 6: Thursday – June 23, 2016
Day: Day trip to Capri Island, including island boat tour, visit to the carbonate grottoes, and chair lift up to Capri Mountain (bagged lunch included)
7-8:30pm: Documentary showing at the hotel

Meals: Breakfast, lunch (to go)
Transportation: To and from Capri Island (ferry); to all visits on the island (funicular, boat, and walking)

Day 7: Friday – June 24, 2016
Day: Day trip to Ischia Island, including trekking to Mt. Epomeo Volcano OR a visit to the Aragonese Castle, lunch on the island

Meals: Breakfast, lunch
Transportation: Accommodations to and from Ischia Island (ferry); to all other visits (public transportation and walking)

Day 8: Saturday – June 25, 2016
Noon-1pm: Visit the underwater Archaeological Park of Baiae by glass-floor boat
Early afternoon: Group lunch at Avellino
4-5pm: Guest lecture (arranged by Stanford University faculty)

Transportation: Accommodations to and from the Archaeological Park of Baiae (coach bus); to all other visits (walking)

Day 9: Sunday – June 26, 2016
Day: Day trip to Herculaneum and Mt. Vesuvius, including bagged lunch

Day 10: Monday – June 27, 2016
Morning: Guided excursion to Pompeii
3-5pm: Designated classroom time for guest lecture by Professor Hohlfelder

Day 11: Tuesday – June 28, 2016
Morning: Visit to the outcrop carbonate reef of the Amalfi Peninsula, including  “Path of Gods” hike (9-10km, wear sturdy shoes!), bagged lunch included
Afternoon: Visit to Ravello

Transportation: Accommodations to visits (coach bus)

Day 12: Wednesday – June 29, 2016
10:30am: Private guided tour with Napoli Sotterranea (Roman aqueducts and underground tunnels)
1pm: Lunch at Pizzeria Le Sorelle Bandiera
3-5pm: Professionally guided tour of the National Archaeological Museum of Naples

Transportation: Accommodations to all visits (public transportation and walking)

Day 13: Thursday – June 30, 2016
10am-noon: Designated classroom time, guest lecture by Professor Monteiro (arranged by Stanford University faculty)
Afternoon: Group lunch at Avelino, followed by free time to work on independent research projects

Transportation: Accommodations to all visits (walking)

Day 14: Friday, July 1, 2016
Day: Free day to work on independent research projects
Evening: Group dinner at Avellino

Day: Free day to work on independent research projects. Group lunch at Avellino

Day 17: Monday – July 4, 2016
8:25am: Depart Naples for Rome on Italo 9908, arriving at 9:35am
10am-1pm: Professionally guided tour of the Colosseum and Forum
1pm: Group lunch near the Colosseum, followed by free afternoon in Rome
6:15pm: Depart Rome and return to Naples on Italo 9925, arriving in Naples at 7:25pm

Meals: Breakfast, lunch
Transportation: To/from Rome (high speed train); to all other visits (public transportation and walking)

Day 18: Tuesday – July 5, 2016
Day: Free time to work on independent research projects. Group lunch at Avelino

Evening: Farewell dinner on the cove!
