Your Daily Itinerary

Here is your daily itinerary for your time in France!

Please note that dates and events are subject to change pending availability. Always check with your professor and onsite program coordinator to confirm plans.

Please also note that dinner is provided 6 nights per week at your host family’s house, so one night a week you will need to plan to have dinner out. You can discuss which night each week this will be with your family!

Day 1: Sunday – June 5, 2016
11AM: Arrive in Marseille and meet CISabroad On-Site Program Coordinator as well as a few staff from IAU! Take the Navette (shuttle bus) to transfer to the Gare Routiere (bus station) in Aix, where you will be picked up by your host families! Your host families will take you home, help you get settled-in, and then walk you to campus for a late picnic lunch and brief welcome orientation by your onsite program coordinator (Angelo).
2:30PM: Welcome Picnic lunch
5:00PM: Open house at the university (meet other students studying abroad in Aix for the summer, and IAU staff!)

Meals: Lunch, dinner with host families
Transportation: Airport to train station (shuttle); host families to pick up students from station; students to walk to campus and back home

Day 2: Monday, June 6, 2016
8:45 – 9:00: Arrive for orientation in the “Main Hall, Centre d’etudes français”
9:00 – 11:30: Orientation led by IAU for all study abroad students
Free between 11:30 – 2:15
2:15 – Campus tour and other activities

Meals: Breakfast and dinner provided at homestays
Transportation: Accommodations to campus (walking)

Day 3: Tuesday, June 7, 2016
All day excursion with IAU to the coastal town of La Ciotat
Meet in front of the hotel Roi Rene on blvd du Roi Rene at 8:45AM

Transportation: Accommodations to campus (walking); All-day excursion (IAU provides transportation)

Day 4: Wednesday, June 8, 2016
8:30-10:30: Class
9:30-11:30: Walking tour of Aix
2:00: Visit Planet Provence

Day 5: Thursday, June 9, 2016
8:30-10:30: Class / Guest Speaker : Horizon en Partage
6:30 – 8 pm: IAU Reception

Day 6: Friday, June 10, 2016
11:30 – 3:30: Cooking Class!

2:00: Villemus & Farm Thierry (goats & olives)

Meals: Breakfast and dinner provided at homestays
Transportation: Accommodations to campus (walking); campus to visit (coach)

Day 10: Tuesday, June 14, 2016
8:30-10:30: Class
2:00: Localizz (tasting and lecture)
Later Afternoon: Boulangerie visit/lecture

Day 11: Wednesday, June 15, 2016
8:30-10:30: Class
Afternoon: Domaine & Compagnie

Meals: Breakfast and dinner provided at homestays

Day 12: Thursday, June 16, 2016
8:30-10:30: Class
Mid-afternoon : Visit to L’esprit de la violette
Meet with a “Chef étoilé”. His name is Marc de Pasorio. He has a Michelin star and works in the restaurant.
Afternoon: Pastis Visit

Transportation: Accommodations to campus (walking)

Day 13: Friday, June 17, 2016
10:45: Visit to Marriott
3:00: Visit to LaCoste (will return by 6pm)

Days 14-15: Saturday – Sunday, June 18-19, 2016
Free weekend – If you plan to travel be sure to turn in a travel form to Angelo!

Day 16: Monday, June 20, 2016
Classroom space provided all day

Day 17: Tuesday, June 21, 2016
Program ends. Travel back to airport for return flight home!
