Tentative Program Itinerary
Day 1 – Tuesday, May 24, 2016: Arrival/Vicenza
Morning: Arrive in Italy and meet with CISabroad Onsite Program Coordinator, then transfer to your accommodations in Vicenza
Suggested arrival flight: 11:20am (UA9901) into Venice- Marco Polo airport
All students who are not arriving on this flight must be at the airport arrivals gate by 11:45am to join the group transfer to Vicenza!
2pm: Check into accommodations in Vicenza for free time to rest
5pm: Welcome Orientation at hotel and walk to Little English School (LES)
6pm: Aperitif at LES- meet the teachers and staff
Meals: None provided
Transportation: Airport to accommodations (one group transfer via private coach); accommodations to LES (walking or public bus)
Day 2 – Wednesday, May 25, 2016: Vicenza
Morning: Guided tour of Vicenza
12pm: Lunch at LES
12:45 pm: Presentations by Head of School (Lia Alvarez); Assistant Head
2-4pm: Lesson and classroom observations; TU students choose from: 7th grade Italian, 6th grade English, 5th grade PE, 5th grade Art, 4th grade History/Geography, 4th grade Music, 4th grade Spanish.
4pm: Debrief w Dr. Mee

Day 3 – Thursday, May 26, 2016: Vicenza
Morning: Time set aside for classroom instruction
12-5pm: Visit the Little English School for presentations by Little English School students on studying at an international school and the art and culture of Vicenza

Transportation: Accommodations to visits (public transportation and walking)
Day 4 – Friday, May 27, 2016: Vicenza
8am-noon: Arrive at Little English School for a presentation on studying and living in Italy by international students, followed by classroom observation and microteaching on geography
12pm-4:30pm: Break for lunch, then a microteaching session on teaching Spanish. For the rest of the afternoon, observe different groups of students and school functions
Evening: Group dinner

Day 5 – Saturday, May 28, 2016: Vicenza
Day: Free day with La Vida Local cultural activity suggestions available from CISabroad Onsite Program Coordinator, including assistance coordinating travel to nearby cities (Venice, Verona, etc.)

Transportation: None provided (walking)
Day 6 – Sunday, May 29, 2016: Reggio Emilia
Morning: Depart from accommodations for the train to Reggio Emilia
Afternoon: Guided walking tour of Reggio Emilia
Meals: Breakfast
Transportation: Accommodations to Reggio Emilia (train); to all other visits (walking)
Day 7 – Monday, May 30, 2016: Reggio Emilia
10am-1pm: Introduction to the history, values, and organization of the preschools and infant-toddler centers of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia and the cultural project of the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre. Guided visit to the temporary exhibitions and a viewing of the video “Everyday Utopias” describing a day in a preschool.
1pm: Lunch break
3pm: Interactive tour at Atelier with an atelierista

Day 8 – Tuesday, May 31, 2016: Reggio Emilia/Florence
8-10am: Guided visit to a Parmagiano Reggiano production facility to see how one of the most popular cheeses in the world, and a true culinary pride of the Emilia-Romagna region, is traditionally made
Afternoon: After lunch, depart from Reggio Emilia for Florence by train. Upon arrival, check into hotel
Evening: Group pizza dinner and brief walking tour of the area, including the famous Piazza del Duomo and a view of Florence’s famous cathedral lit up at night

Day 9 – Wednesday, June 1, 2016: Florence
Morning: Lesson from Dr. Mee on Arts Integrated Instruction
Afternoon: Visit the Accademia museum to see the Statue of David
5pm: Evening walking tour, including a visit to Ponte Vecchio with a gelato stop along the way

Day 10 – Thursday, June 2, 2016: Florence
Day: Free day to travel and explore, with optional La Vida Local cultural excursion to the Republic Day parade and festivities

Day 11 – Friday, June 3, 2016: Florence
Morning: Time set aside for instruction
Afternoon: School visit – details TBC
Meals: Breakfast
Transportation: Accommodations to all visits (walking and public transportation)
Day 12 – Saturday, June 4, 2016: Pisa
Day: Day trip to Pisa and visit the famous Leaning Tower!
Meals: Breakfast
Transportation: To and from Pisa (train), all other visits (walking)
Day 13 – Sunday, June 5, 2016: Florence
Day: Free day to explore the area, with La Vida Local cultural activity suggestions available from CISabroad Onsite Program Coordinator

Day 14 – Monday, June 6, 2016: Pistoia
Day: Full day trip to local town for school visit and lecture – details TBC
Meals: Breakfast
Transportation: To Pistoia and back (regional train), all other visits (walking and public transportation)
Day 15 – Tuesday, June 7, 2016: Florence
Morning: Final lesson and wrap up
3-5pm: Farewell Dinner- authentic Italian cooking class! Cook your final meal together and then enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Evening: Final gelato stop and free evening for last-minute exploration

Day 16 – Wednesday, June 8, 2016: Departure
Day: Check out of accommodations and transfer to airport for departure
