Vietnam Visa and Immigration

A visa is “an endorsement on a passport indicating that the holder is allowed to enter, leave, or stay for a specified period of time in a country”.

If you are a citizen of the United States, a visa is required to travel to Vietnam for this program. By this time, all students should have already submitted their visa application for Vietnam for the duration of the program. If not, please do so ASAP!

From the Vietnam Consulate in San Francisco:
The total fee for a 3 month, single entry visa is 130 USD/person, in money order or cashier’s check (personal check is not acceptable), payable to VIETNAM CONSULATE (one month is the shortest visa). If you come to the consulate
in person, you can pay in cash. For those with Vietnamese origin, visa fee is 70 USD.

You send to the Consulate (VIETNAM CONSULATE, 1700 California Street, Suite 580, San Francisco, CA 94109) your application form (completed online at Consulate’s website: www.vietnamconsulate-sf.org, “Consular Services” – “Visa”, then download and print it) + 1 color photo 2×2 inch+ original (or photocopy of the first page) of your passport+ fee + prepaid returned envelope. Or you can bring your papers to the consulate, no appointment needed, Monday through Friday, business hours: 8:30 -12 and 2:30 -4. It takes 3 business days to process visa since we receive your documents.

If you are not a citizen of the United States, you may or may not be required to obtain a visa prior to travel. CISabroad is not a visa processing centre. It is your responsibility to understand the immigration laws surrounding your country’s requirements for visiting Ireland. Your program manager can provide documents you may need to support your visa application.

If you have any questions about the visa process, please see your study abroad advisor!
