Program Itinerary:

Day 1: Monday, May 18                           
8:35 P.M. Depart from Chicago O’Hare on British Airways BA296

Transportation: From Chicago to Rome (round-trip international flights)

Day 2: Tuesday, May 19 – Rome
Morning/afternoon: In Transit
10:20 A.M. Arrive at London Heathrow Airport
12:45 P.M. Depart London Heathrow on British Airways BA560
4:10 P.M. Arrive in Rome! Meet your CISabroad On-Site Program Coordinator at the airport, and transfer to accommodations.
Evening: Brief neighborhood walking tour and Orientation, followed by dinner on own.

Meals provided: None
Transportation provided: Airport transfer to accommodations (private coach), to all other visits (walking)

Day 3: Wednesday, May 20 – Rome
Day: Walking tour of Rome guided by Professor Farmer, which will start and finish at the accommodations.
Evening: Welcome Dinner

Meals provided: Breakfast, Welcome Dinner
Transportation provided: Accommodations to visits (walking, public transportation passes)

Day 4: Thursday, May 21 – Rome (Vatican City)
10:30 A.M. Guided tour of the Vatican Gardens
2:30 P.M. Visit the Vatican Museum, followed by St. Peter’s Basilica.
Climb to the top of the Dome of St. Peter’s Basilica

Meals provided: Breakfast
Transportation provided: Accommodations to visits (walking, public transportation passes)

Day 5: Friday, May 22 – Rome
11 A.M. Visit the Galleria Borghese
Afternoon: Visit Pantheon, followed by free time.

Day 6: Saturday, May 23 – Rome
Morning (suggested time of 10 A.M.): Visit the Capitoline Museum
Afternoon: Palatine and Forum, followed by the Colosseum
*For afternoon visits, you will be given a museum pass that will also serve to get you into other sites. It is your responsibility to hold on to this pass!

Day 7: Sunday, May 24 – Rome
Morning (suggested time of 11:00 A.M) Visit Palazzo Massimo-National Museum of Rome
*Please have your museum pass with you for entry into this visit
Afternoon: Free time, with “La Vida Local” activity suggestions to be provided by CISabroad On-Site Program Coordinator
Evening: Walking tour of Rome by night guided by Professor Farmer to explore some local piazzas, and walk by the Trevi fountain!

Day 8: Monday, May 25 – Rome
8:30 A.M. sharp: Check out of student apartment, and transfer to Roma Termini train station.
TIME Depart Rome for Florence
TIME Arrive in Florence. Walk to accommodations for check-in.
Afternoon: Walking tour of Florence, guided by Professor Farmer

Meals provided: Breakfast
Transportation provided: Accommodations to train station (public transportation passes), Accommodations to Florence (train), Accommodations to visits in Florence (walking)

Day 9: Tuesday, May 26 – Florence
11:15 A.M. Visit the Bargello National Museum
1:30 P.M. Visit the Accademia, followed by free time
Evening: Trip up to the town of Fiesole to watch the sunset with Florence Site Director, Alessandro Bruno. Note: students can bring snacks and beverages as desired!

Transportation provided: Accommodations to visits in Florence (walking); Accommodations to and from Fiesoli (public transportation)

Day 10: Wednesday, May 27 – Florence
Free Day to explore and travel, with “La Vida Local” activity suggestions to be provided by CISabroad leader.

Day 11: Thursday, May 28 –Florence/Sorrento
TIME Depart Florence for Naples
TIME Arrive in Naples, and transfer to accommodations in Sorrento.
Evening: Walking tour of Sorrento guided by Professor Farmer

Transportation provided: From Florence to Naples (train), from Naples Train Station to accommodations (shuttle bus), Accommodations to visits in Sorrento (walking)

Day 12: Friday, May 29 –  Sorrento/Pompeii
Morning: Guided tour of Pompeii
Afternoon: Return to Sorrento, followed by free time to relax and explore!

Meals provided: Breakfast
Transportation provided: Accommodations to and from Pompeii (train); Tour of Pompeii (walking)

Day 13: Saturday, May 30 – Capri
Morning: Guided tour of Capri Island, also to include Anacapri
Afternoon: Free time (on the beach, to explore, etc.)

Evening: Return to Sorrento

Day 14: Sunday, May 31 – Sorrento
Day: Free Day, with optional visit to Amalfi coast guided by Professor Farmer

Day 15: Monday, June 01— Naples/ Rome
TIME Depart accommodations for Naples Archaeological Museum. Visit the Naples Archaeological Museum before transferring to the Naples train station.

Day 16: Tuesday, June 02 –  Rome (Republic Day/National Holiday)
Day: Free day, with recommended morning activity of watching Republic Day parade at the Imperial Fora
Evening: Group farewell dinner
