Get ready for fun and learning in Spain!

Program Itinerary: 

Day 1: Tuesday, May 26, 2015
Morning: Arrive in Barcelona on various flights
10:45 A.M. Meet Onsite Program Coordinator and transfer by private coach to accommodations
11:15 A.M. Arrive at apartments. Check in, and have time to rest and shower.
2:45 P.M. Meet in the lobby to walk together to Barcelona International College
3:00 P.M. Logistics and Health & Safety Orientation. Students will be given important health and safety instructions, an introduction to cultural differences, and will learn how to find their way around the city, including taking the public transportation.
5:00 P.M. Walk in the city center
6:30 P.M. Tapas Welcome Dinner at Orio Born Tapas, in the Ribiera neighborhood.

Day 2: Wednesday, May 27, 2015
11:00 A.M. Meet the group in the lobby and depart for a Barcelona City Bus Tour. This Bus Tour will help the students to get to know quickly what Barcelona has to offer. It is a Hop on- hop off bus.
Afternoon: Free afternoon to explore (and bus tour continued)

Day 3: Thursday, May 28, 2015
9:30 – 11:30 A.M. UTA Classes
12:00 – 2:00 P.M. UTA Classes
3:30 PM – 5:00 P.M. Current state of the Spanish Economy lecture
5:30 P.M. Gothic Quarter Tour: Students will experience the Barcelona city center and its modern-day magic while seeing the 2000 years of history that started with the Romans and made Barcelona what it is today.

Day 4: Friday, May 29, 2015- Day 7: Monday, June 1, 2015 – FESTIVO (LOCAL HOLIDAY)
Free weekend to travel and explore! La Vida Local activity suggestions to be provided by CISabroad On-Site Program Coordinators.

3:30 – 5:00 P.M. Intercultural Issues in International Business Workshop: Lecture on how culture affects international business and how to be a global leader

11:30 A.M. – 2:30 P.M. Business Visit to the Estrella Damm Factory

Day 10: Thursday, June 4, 2015
Day: Day trip to Dalí Museum and Besalú
Description:  Inaugurated in 1974, the Dalí Museum contains the broadest range of works spanning the artistic career of Salvador Dalí (1904-1989), from his earliest artistic experiences and his surrealist creations down to the works of the last years of his life. The town of Besalú was designated as a historical national property. The town features arcaded streets and squares and also a restored mikveh, a ritual Jewish bath dating from the eleventh or twelfth century, as well as the remains of a medieval synagogue, located in the lower town near the river.

8:45 A.M. Gather in the lobby of student apartments, and depart for Besalú
10:15 A.M. Arrival in medieval Besalú. Free time to explore the town.
11:30 A.M. Bus departs Besalú for Figueras
12:00 P.M. Guided tour of the Dalí Museum
2:00 P.M. Group lunch at Granada Vins in Figueras
4:00 P.M. Bus departs Figueras
6:00 P.M. Estimated arrival time in Barcelona

Days 11: Friday, June 5, 2015  
10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. UTA Classes
1:50 P.M. Meet the group at Barcelona International College
3:00-5:00 P.M. Guided tour of Torres Winery: Generation after generation, Torres Winery has passed down the secret of making great wines and the love of the land through their family. This tradition and a vision for the future have transformed Torres into a renowned company whose products can now be found in more than 140 countries
5:00 P.M. Bus departs Torres Winery
6:00 P.M. Estimated arrival back in Barcelona

3:15 P.M. Depart from Barcelona International College to go Roca Gallery (by metro)
4:00 – 6:00 P.M. Business visit to Roca Gallery: Visit and lecture on marketing and communication at the ROCA Gallery. Roca is one of the world’s leaders in bathroom design and manufacturing.  What started as a purely Spanish company in 1917 has become a multinational operating all over the world. This lecture will revolve around marketing differences internationally.

Day 15: Tuesday, June 9, 2015

6:45 P.M. Meet in front of Hard Rock Café in Plaza Catalunya and travel to cooking class as a group.
7:00 P.M. Spanish & Catalan cooking class at Barcelona Cooking : The students will receive instruction and participate in cooking a typical Catalan meal with a local chef.  At the end they will be able to enjoy the meal they prepared!

Day 16: Wednesday, June 10, 2015

7:00 P.M. Meet at Hard Rock Café for a walking tour of the Raval neighborhood!

Description: Discover neighborhood of Raval that up until 10 years ago was off-limits for tourists because of its bad reputation.  The district is now beginning to thrive, thanks to the city’s investments and gentrification attempts. We will end the tour by visiting a Flamenco ‘tablao’ where students will see the passion of the Spanish dance, Flamenco

3:00 – 4:30 P.M. Re-entry workshop: The focus of the workshop is to help students think about the experience they had in Barcelona and what they will be taking away from the experience.  We will talk about how to integrate this international experience into their resume and in job interviews.

8:00 P.M. Farewell dinner at Can Margarit
