Arrival and Departure Information in Spain

Arrival information

One group transfer from the Barcelona airport to the apartments will be arranged for Tuesday, May 26th at 10:30 A.M.

Students who arrive early should make their way to Terminal 1 Arrivals. Once past luggage claim at T1, exit into the arrivals area. On the left end of the arrivals hall is a café called Café Jamaica, which will be the group meeting point.

Based on arrival times, the scheduled pickup will be at 10:30am (to allow time for the 9:40am flight to clear customs). Students who arrive early should wait at the café. Your CISabroad On-Site Program Coordinator, Darcy York, will arrive at Cafe Jamaica to meet you by 10:00 A.M.

If for any reason you miss the group transfer, please make your way to the apartments in Barcelona independently. Please try to get in contact with a member of the group with your estimated time of arrival and your method of transport!

Getting to the apartments in Barcelona independently:

Bus: The easiest way to get to the center is using AEROBUS, a blue bus that runs between the Airport and the city center (Plaça Espanya & Plaça de Catalunya). Travel time is about 35 minutes. When you leave the arrivals hall, follow the signs for the bus and buy your ticket there (you can buy one from a machine with a card, but having euros is handy. They won’t take 50€ bills or higher. Once on the bus, press the red “stop” button to signal your stop. The bus will stop in Plaça Espanya, Grand Via with Urgell streets, Plaça Universitat and finally in Plaça Catalunya (the end of the line). Check schedules and prices (about 6€ one way) here: http://www.aerobusbcn.com

Train: The train takes you from the airport Terminal 2 to Sants Estació, Passeig de Gràcia or Arc de Triomf train stations in the city center, where you can change to the metro. This uses a normal metro card (2€). There is a free airport shuttle bus between the terminals, for those who arrive into Terminal (T1). This is the least expensive way to get to the center, but takes longer and involves lots of stairs at the train stations. Not recommended with lots of luggage, but if you packed light, a good way to save some money!

Taxi: Taking a taxi is obviously the easiest option and brings you directly to your housing, but is more expensive. The journey from the airport takes around 25 minutes and costs 30-40€ depending on where you are going in the city. FYI: they will charge you a surcharge for luggage.
