Program Itinerary:
Day 1: Monday – May 9, 2016: Rome
10:15am: Arrive in Rome, then transfer to accommodations
Suggested arrival flight: DL 64, 10:15am arrival into FCO (Rome, Fiumicino)
11am: Group transfer from airport to hotel
Evening: Orientation and group welcome dinner
Meals: Dinner
Transportation: Airport to accommodations (private coach transfer); to all visits (public transportation and walking)
Day 2: Tuesday – May 10, 2016: Rome
9:30am: Guided tour the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum
Afternoon: Visit the Capitoline Museum and Pantheon
Meals provided: Breakfast
Transportation: To all visits (public transportation and walking)
Day 3: Wednesday – May 11, 2016: Rome
Morning: Guided tour of Appia Antica, including Aqueducts Park
Afternoon: Interested students have the opportunity to stay behind and see the Roman catacombs or return to Rome for a free afternoon

Transportation: To all visits (public transportation and walking)
Day 4: Thursday – May 12, 2016: Rome-Florence
9:15am-12:15pm: Guided tour of the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica
Lunch on your own before heading to Roma Termini station
4:45pm: High-speed train from Rome to Florence
6:17pm: Arrive in Florence and transfer to accommodations

Transportation: To all visits in Rome (public transportation and walking); Rome to Florence (regional train); to all visits in Florence (public transportation and walking)
Day 5: Friday – May 13, 2016: Florence
Morning: CISabroad orientation for Florence
Afternoon: Guided walking tour of Florence (by OPC), followed by a cooking class at Florence University of the Arts- you’ll make your dinner!

Day 6: Saturday – May 14, 2016: Florence
Morning: Lecture time (3-4 hours)
Afternoon: Visit Florence’s Duomo, Santa Maria dei Fiori, and climb to the top of Brunelleschi’s Cupola (climb- optional)
Evening: Group will meet at Piazza Michelangelo for pictures at sunset

Day 7: Sunday – May 15, 2016: Florence
Morning: Lecture time (3-4 hours)
Afternoon: Visit the church of Santa Croce

Day 8: Monday – May 16, 2016: Florence
Morning: Lecture time (3-4 hours)
Afternoon: Half day trip to the iconic Tuscan town of Vinci, Leonardo da Vinci’s birthplace. Visit the Biblioteca Leonardiana, the house of Leonardo da Vinci, and the Museo Leonardiano before returning to Florence
Meals provided: Breakfast
Transportation: To/from Empoli (regional train); to/from Vinci (bus); to all other visits (walking)
Day 9: Tuesday – May 17, 2016: Florence
Day: Free time, with La Vida Local suggestions offered by CISabroad On-Site Program Coordinator

Day 10: Wednesday – May 18, 2016: Florence
Day: Day trip to Siena – visit the Siena Public Library to see the Fibonacci manuscript. Free time to explore the medieval city of Siena, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before returning to Florence!

Day 11: Thursday – May 19, 2016: Florence
Day: Service learning project (details TBC closer to departure)

Day 12: Friday – May 20, 2016: Florence
Morning: Lecture time (3-4 hours)
1pm: Visit Uffizi and Vasari Corridor (guided tour), followed by visits to Piazza della Signoria, and Palazzo Vecchio

Day 13: Saturday – May 21, 2016: Florence
Morning: Lecture time (3-4 hours)
1:45pm: Group entry to the Galleria dell’Accademia
Meals provided: Breakfast

Day 14: Sunday – May 22, 2016: Pisa/ Cinque Terre
Morning: Depart Florence by train for day trip to Pisa
Day: Visit Leaning Tower, Camposanto and Baptistery
Late Afternoon: Continue on to La Spezia/Cinque Terre

Transportation: Accommodations to train station (walking);Florence to Pisa, Pisa to Cinque Terre (regional train); all other visits (walking)
Day 15: Monday – May 23, 2016: Cinque Terre to Florence
Morning: Free time to explore Cinque Terre
Afternoon: Return to Florence (approximately 2.5 hours)

9:54am: Depart Florence for Venice, arriving mid-day and transferring to accommodations
Afternoon: Visit the Doge’s Palace and the Museo Correr with an optional visit to the National Archeological Museum and the rooms of the Biblioteca Nazionale

Day 18: Thursday – May 26, 2016: Venice to Florence
Day: Visit St. Mark’s Basilica, including the Pala D’Oro. Free time to explore Venice on your own with La Vida Local cultural activity suggestions available from CISabroad Onsite Program Coordinator before returning to Florence in the evening
7pm: Return to Florence
