Tentative Program Itinerary:
Day 1: Sunday, February 28, 2016 – Galway
Morning: Arrive in Dublin, then board private coach for Westport/Murrisk
Afternoon/Evening: Arrive in Murrisk and view the Famine/Coffin Ships Memorial, Murrisk Abbey, and the cemetery. Head to Westport for some free exploration time and Welcome Dinner
Evening: After dinner, depart Westport for accommodations in Galway
Transportation: Private coach from Dublin to Galway and onto itinerary items
Meals: Breakfast
Day 2: Monday, February 29, 2016 – Galway
Morning: Depart for Portumna and visit the Irish Workhouse Centre
Afternoon: Strokestown Park – the Irish National Famine Museum
Evening: Engage with appropriate scholars’ at National University of Ireland Galway (arranged by Ohio University faculty)
Transportation: Private coach to itinerary items
Meals: Breakfast
Day 3: Tuesday, March 1, 2016 – Cork
Morning: Transfer from Galway to Cork (3 hours) with a stop at the University of Limerick to engage with appropriate collections/scholar(s) at the University of Limerick famine letter archives (arranged by Ohio University faculty)
Afternoon: Arrive in Cork and check into hotel
Transportation: Private coach to itinerary items
Meals: Breakfast
Day 4: Wednesday, March 2, 2016 – Cork
Morning: Visit the Cork Butter Museum for guided tour and butter making demonstration, then visit the English Market and then continue on the faculty-led Cork City Food Trail
Late afternoon: Engage with faculty from University College Cork (arranged by Ohio University faculty)
Transportation: Accommodations to itinerary items (walking)
Meals: Breakfast
Day 5: Thursday, March 3, 2016 – Cork
Day: Visit the Cobh Heritage Centre to learn about hunger strike stories and the “crime” of poverty/ destitution
Late afternoon: Engage with faculty from University College Cork (arranged by Ohio University faculty)
Transportation: Private coach to itinerary items
Meals: Breakfast
Day 6: Friday, March 4, 2016 – Cork
Morning: Visit Killarney National Park and the Muckross House Garden and Traditional Farms then continue on to Kenmare for lunch
Afternoon: Visit the Skibbereen Heritage Centre and the Skibbereen Trail with a stop at Clonakilty on the way back to Cork for free time for dinner

Day 7: Saturday, March 5, 2016 – Dublin
Morning: Depart Cork for Dublin (3 hours)
Late Morning: Arrive in Dublin and check into accommodations, then Visit the Jeanie Johnson Famine Ship
