Spain has some of the best and easiest forms of public transportation in the world. With metro cards and bus passes at your finger tips, you can get from place to place with ease. You’ll notice that Spanish natives walk everywhere when they can. Most of the cities in Spain are very walkable.

For those late nights out, when there is a public transportation strike, or when you are going home alone, getting into a taxi is always a good idea. Taxis are always visible in the streets and relatively inexpensive for a ride, but you may want to share rides with friends to split costs.

**Pick-pockets: While traveling in Spain is a breeze, it is always important to be aware of your surroundings. Pick-pocketing is a major occurrence, especially in Spain’s larger cities. Make sure that your bag is zipped up and carried in front of you and that your wallet is tucked away safely. It is also a good idea to keep copies of your passport and essential documents in your dorm or hotel room, just in case. Keep an eye out for yourself and your friends on crowded metro trains. Pick pockets aren’t dangerous criminals, and if you do get pick-pocketed, you will most likely not realize until it’s too late! Don’t be afraid to make a lot of noise if you see something out of place. Pick-pockets scare easily!
