Towson in Italy: Arrival and Departure Information

Arrival information

One group transfer from the Rome Fiumicino airport to Hotel BB Trastevere in Rome will be arranged for the morning of Saturday, January 3.

Arrival flight information: Arrive in Rome on various flights by 9:10 A.M. The designated flight for your program arrives in Rome at 9:10 A.M. from Philadelphia, PA (flight number AA 0718).

Your On-Site Program Coordinator will meet you at the airport at the LEONARDO DA VINCI SCULPTURE, located in the departure area of Terminal 3– one floor above the arrival area. It is the only sculpture of its kind at the airport, and any of the personnel at the information desks will know where it is located. Your On-Site Program Coordinator will be holding  a sign with your university’s name! A private coach is then scheduled to transfer the group to the accommodations. Navigating between Rome’s main airport and the city centre is nothing to be intimidated by! If for any reason you miss the group transfer, please make your way to the hotel independently. You should ask the hotel to contact your on-site program coordinator to notify them of your arrival.

Getting to Trastevere in Rome independently:

A taxi from the Fiumicino airport in Rome will take about 35 minutes, and will cost about 40€ one-way. There will be plenty available outside of both Terminals 1,2,3, and 5. This option, while not the least expensive, is certainly the most convenient if you find yourself having to navigate from door-to-door independent of the group.

You also have the option of taking a shuttle bus into Rome city center. There are multiple options for taking the bus and we recommend familiarizing yourself with them prior to travel just in case you need to use one when you arrive in Rome. Please note that not all the shuttles may have a convenient drop-off location in Trastevere.

Another good option would be to take the FL1 regional train to the Trastevere train station. You can access the train station from Terminal 3 in the airport. This option would cost you about 8€  and you can buy a ticket at a kiosk at the platform. Check out the exact route to your accommodation location on GoogleMaps to see for yourself, because it would involve some walking from the Trastevere station!
