For any length of period you’re abroad, your friends and family may want to send you a care package, important mail, debit or credit cards, or even cell phones if you need a replacement.
It is recommended that you bring everything with you that you will need for your program and not try to mail anything to Argentina. While it is possible to receive packages, there are a few things to know before mailing anything to Argentina.
The package might not arrive at all. This is not common, but it does happen. If there are electronics or expensive items in the package, they may get stolen or kept in customs until you pay the tax to receive them. Very often, you will not receive notification that your items are being kept in customs. Even if your package does arrive, it will probably take a minimum of 4-8 weeks to get there.
If something must be sent, then we recommend using FedEx, DHL, or one of the other large shipping organizations.
You will learn of the best address to send things once you arrive onsite, as it will depend on the location of your homestay, apartment, or residencia. The onsite staff can help facilitate this process.
