Townsville is a coastal city in northeastern Queensland, Australia. It is the largest tropical city with about 190,000+ people living there. It is a pedestrian friendly city and has wonderful architecture from the 19th century. There are heaps of restaurants, cafes and bars that range from pricey to cheap.
Townsville is a wonderful stepping point for Magnetic Island, the Whitsundays and so many outdoor activities. Many students opt to either purchase a bike or rent a bike for their semester. Biking and public transportation is a wonderful way to get around the city. Townsville, like most Australian cities is beach oriented and focused. It is not uncommon to see many people at the beach on weekends and after work.
